About the Sikh Calendar

Many Sikh festivals follow the Nanakshahi calendar, which was adopted in 2003 to standardise the dates of Gurpurabs and historical events. Some dates, particularly those tied to the lunar calendar (such as Guru Nanak Jayanti and Diwali), may vary slightly each year. The dates listed above are for the year 2026. Gurdwaras worldwide hold special programmes, Akhand Paths, langars, and nagar kirtans to celebrate these occasions.
